Entrepreneurship has become more and more popular as a way of life in recent years. As social media has opened the eyes of the masses, people have been drawn to the financial freedom that being an entrepreneur promises.
Let’s be real, entrepreneurship is pretty awesome, especially since you can start a business with virtually zero capital nowadays. Being able to set your own hours, choose what you work on and at the end of the day- rake in all the capital is a pretty sweet deal. The fact that you’re reading this means that you probably think so too, so this post will give you 3 tips that you can use to make the leap into full-time entrepreneurship.
1. Practice Self Discipline
If you’ve scrolled over the article, you’ve probably noticed that I put “plan” as the second most important item on this list. Well, frankly – that’s because it is.
Something that most people fail to realize is that entrepreneurship is hard. VERY hard. Of course, the rewards are far sweeter than a 9-5 job, but it takes a lot of discipline and emotional control in order to stay the course.
One of the things you can expect when you make the leap is opposition. Not only opposition from your peers and family who call you crazy, but opposition from your own subconscious mind trying to get back to “normal”. It’s Imperative that you don’t give in. Negative feelings are common and they pass faster than you think they can.
Given everything we just talked about, my first advice is to begin practicing self-control in as many ways as you can. If you currently have a 9-5 and a side hustle that’s growing into a real business, start practicing a rigid schedule. Your time will very shortly become your most precious asset and having the discipline to control every minute of it will be essential to your success. So, before you make the leap, give yourself a few months of rigidity so the transition will be easier.
2. Have a Solid Plan
Now we move onto the second item on the list … the plan.
Having a plan for moving forward is a must in this game and I don’t mean a “vague idea”. There can be no uncertainty in your outline, you’ve got to know how you are going to be making money and how much you need to keep in order to survive. Now don’t get me wrong, all plans fail and no plan can be perfect, but having an intended road map can help you come back to the straight and narrow when you stray too far.
3. Develop a Morning routine
If you haven’t heard of a morning routine, then you need to get to learning and FAST.
Once you’re in control of your own time, how you spend the first hour of your day determines what you’ll get done during the rest of it, so it’s vital that you control that first hour no matter what. Don’t believe me? Well think about it. What kind of day do you think you’d have if someone walked into your room screaming at you to get out of bed? Think that you’d naturally enter a positive and productive state?
Hell NO!
Of course, your day would be garbage. It’s only natural to have negative responses to negative situations. Which is why you’re going to need a daily routine to get you fired up and ready to tackle the world.
Get Started Now
If you’re serious about this, you need to take action now. It can be a small action, big one or somewhere in between but don’t hesitate. You have the three most important steps to transitioning into full-time entrepreneurship, so go crush them.
See you on the other side!
